Danita Macon

With over 30 years as an information technology professional, Danita Macon has worked in the cable, sport and fitness apparel, higher education, and commercial aerospace industries. She is currently the Virgin Galactic (VG) Director, IT Vendor and Performance Management where she is responsible for developing and maintaining successful relationships with the technology vendor network, and gathering, interpreting, and using complex data to develop actionable steps to improve processes and optimize results. Additionally, she sits on VG’s Inclusion Council which helps to shape and drive the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging strategy.
Danita holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Management Information Systems from The University of Memphis (UofM) and a second graduate degree in Global Supply Chain Management from Portland State University.
As the UofM’s 2005-2006 Information Technology Division “PRO” award recipient, Danita was recognized for her involvement and leadership in the SunGard (now FIS) Banner ERP implementation. Additionally, she was selected as the 2011 UofM Maxine Smith Fellow which provides access and opportunity to the contribution and enhancement of campus ideas, thoughts, and experiences.
A lover of family, music, food, and travel, Danita is an avid sports enthusiast and True Blue UofM Tiger fan.
