Maria Vianco
Outreach Committee Chair
Maria Vianco got her start in aviation at a young age, but due to many obstacles, she was unable to pursue that dream until years later. She obtained much of her mechanical knowledge through working on and building her first car, an '87 Firebird, and went to school for mechanical engineering. Maria found that this wasn’t the right fit for her, so she decided to adjust course and recently graduated with her Associates in Aviation Maintenance Technology from CNM (Central New Mexico Community College) and completed her FAA A&P certification. Not only was she one of only 8 that graduated from her class, but she was the only woman. She has been an aircraft mechanic for the local flight school for over a year now. It is at this same flight school where she has been taking flight lessons. Maria currently has about 20 hours and is getting close to her solo flight. Her goal is to complete her Private Pilot’s License training in 2023.
