Danita Macon, Vice President of the WAI Land of Enchantment Chapter, will host a panel of Black Women in various careers and aspirations in aviation and aerospace.

These incredible women will share their experiences, dreams and barriers, and how they’ve overcome them. Scroll down to meet the panelists.

Danita Macon

With over 30 years as an information technology professional, Danita Macon has worked in the cable, sport and fitness apparel, higher education, and commercial aerospace industries. She is currently the Virgin Galactic (VG) Director, IT Vendor and Performance Management where she is responsible for developing and maintaining successful relationships with the technology vendor network, and gathering, interpreting, and using complex data to develop actionable steps to improve processes and optimize results. Additionally, she sits on VG’s Inclusion Council which helps to shape and drive the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging strategy.

Shonesha Rogers

Shonesha Rogers lives and works in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she is an Air Traffic Controller for Albuquerque Tower/TRACON with six years of experience. She is also an on-the-job training instructor and is in her second year as the Union Representative for the facility. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Anthea Meiners

Anthea Meiners was born to a British and Dutch-Ghanaian parents in a small town called Hoorn, in the Netherlands, near Amsterdam. She graduated from Webster University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and a minor in Human Resource Management. She worked as an Administrative Specialist III for the State of Maryland for the Medicaid Transportation department prior to becoming a Flight Attendant for American Airlines. 

After work as a Flight Attendant for a year, Anthea realized that it was time to pursue her dream of becoming a pilot. She was accepted into the American Airlines Cadet Academy last year and aims to become a commercial pilot for American Airlines.

Anthea is also proud to serve in United States Air Force Reserves working in Logistics.

Chasity Anderson

Chasity Anderson, is currently based in Houston, Texas as a Flight Attendant. She speaks English and German. She is enrolled in college courses pursuing a degree in veterinary Medicine and is also pursuing her Private Pilots License, attending ground school at McKinney Airfield in Texas.

 Chasity balances life as a single parent, full time student and working as a flight attendant, all with aspirations of becoming a pilot. She dreams of one day having wings and making her home in the sky.
